GUY STERNBERG
BIOGRAPHY
Guy Sternberg is a German-Israeli record producer, recording and mixing engineer, synthesizer player, and founder of LowSwing Studio and LowSwing Records in Berlin. Born in Haifa, Israel, he trained as a classical musician, studying double bass and composition in Tel Aviv before moving to Europe and eventually settling in Berlin, where he became one of the city's most respected studio figures.
After working at a Neve-equipped facility in Israel and at Babelsberg Studios in Potsdam, Sternberg founded LowSwing Studio in the early 2000s, driven by a vision to unite the roles of producer, engineer, and recording studio under one roof. Over nearly two decades, LowSwing became one of Berlin's most celebrated recording spaces, built around a rare vintage Neve console and a strong commitment to analog recording. Artists including Kings of Convenience, Daniel Lanois, Bonobo, Feist, Fink, Michael Wollny, and Kurt Rosenwinkel have all recorded there.
In 2015 he launched LowSwing Records, a label dedicated to fully analog production — recorded directly to two-inch tape, mixed to master tape, cut to lacquer, and pressed to vinyl, with no computers involved at any stage. Among his most celebrated projects is The LowSwing Sessions with British singer-songwriter Fink, recorded with bassist Tim Lefebvre and drummer Earl Harvin. After LowSwing Studio was tragically destroyed in a fire in 2021, Sternberg worked at Emil Berliner Studios before reopening LowSwing in Berlin-Kreuzberg in 2023. He is also a specialist in Dolby Atmos mixing, with credits spanning classical, jazz, electronic, and rock music.Guy Sternberg is a German-Israeli record producer, recording and mixing engineer, synthesizer player, and founder of LowSwing Studio and LowSwing Records in Berlin.
